We offer yoga sessions for individuals and groups tailored to the level of the participants. At Lumina, yoga is taught as a meditative and therapeutic practice, focusing on bringing awareness to the breath and connecting with ourselves through our bodies at we work with postures and movement. We invite you to experience the state of yoga, which can be translated as "union". Many experience this as a state of ease, relaxation and clarity.
At Lumina, hatha is a gentle and slow-paced class of mindful movement and flows. We learn to make friends with props and find ease and comfort in functional movement. This class is suited for students at all levels, all ages concentrating on body awareness and breath as you are guided through a series of poses.
The practice of restorative yoga cultivates deep relaxation, a quieting of mind and n inner calm. It invites you to slow down, rest,restore and rejuvenate the body. This gentle form of yoga has many powerful benefits including: strengthening the immune system, relieving insomnia, reducing anxiety and depression, supporting recovery and healing.
A restorative sequence typically offers four to six poses, held for 10 minutes or longer. In each pose the body is well supported with props, allowing one to completely relax and rest.
