Qi flow yoga - for the four seasons

Ancient wisdom teaches us to live in accordance with the changing seasons, just like plants and other animals. Sometimes we forget that humans are animals too. We too are the happiest and healthiest when we align ourselves with nature’s rthyms. Lin’s class is created with this idea in mind. She also tailtors the practice for the individual students who enters the studio since it is an intimate setting. Her class combines gentle flow yoga with some chinese medicine self care practices . You will feel rejuvenated and peace at heart after the class.

Chen Style Taichi Foundation

This class is meant for beginners. No prior experience is needed. We will start with the basics of internal martial arts - Standing Meditation to tune into the qi of the body through proper physical alignment. Then practise Silk Reeling exercises to familiarise ourselves to the unique movements of Chen Style Taichi. Chen Style Tai Chi is not just an ancient practice; it's a contemporary gateway to well-being. Join our class to explore the transformative power and beauty of Chen Style Tai Chi and kickstart your journey toward improved health, increased vitality, and a deeper connection with yourself.

Wu style taichi

The Wu family style (吳家 or 吳氏; pinyinwújiā or wúshì) of tai chi is the second most popular tai chi style practiced worldwide after Yang style tai chi.  In fact, Wu style tai chi is derived directly from Yang style tai chi.

The routines of Wu style share very similar sequences of moves and names to Yang style tai chi.  In Wu style, the stances are taller and the steps are shorter.  This style of tai chi is well-suited for beginners and people with physical difficulties with low stances or physical disabilities which make it difficult to perform a wider range of motions.

While the motions may not be as extensive or deep, the physical health benefits and its effectiveness as a form of martial arts equals and may exceed some of the other styles of tai chi.

Our Intention

We offer yoga & taichi classes for small groups so that we can tailor to the level of the participants, create community and inspire each other. At Lumina, classes are taught as a meditative and therapeutic practice, focusing on bringing awareness to the breath and connecting with ourselves through our bodies as we work with postures and movement.
